Sarah Calkin

Editor, Local Government Chronicle (LGC)

Sarah has been working as a journalist for more than a decade, joining Local Government Chronicle in 2015. Over that time she has led the news team in covering issues ranging from council finances and social care to devolution and the coronavirus pandemic.

In June she took over as editor of the title, overseeing LGC’s conferences and annual awards ceremony as well as and the print magazine. Through daily news bulletins, the LGC Briefing and a monthly podcast and magazine, LGC strives to provide the information local government officers need to deliver for their communities.

Sarah first became interested in local government during her time as a reporter on the Basildon & Southend Echo where she gained plenty of first hand experience of council meetings and local politics.
